PICTURES 2002

PAGE 4 OF THE VMAX SAGA

Never thought I'd get up to four pages, but because the pictures take a lot of time to load on older machines, here goes.......

Today - 16-06 - I went to Phillipe's shop again, to take pictures of the parts that came in last week. First, the Carbon Doma exhausts and the 1500 cc collectors, same outside diameter as original, but bigger inside diameter because they are single layer ( heavy material ) instead of the double layer of the original. It will give discoloration from the heat, but who cares.

Next, the new MRE ( Murdock Racing Equipment ) VMax gearbox finally came in.

The trick part of this gearbox, to prevent it from jumping out of gear under torque ( sounds familiar ? ), are the geardogs which are cut under an angle instead of straight. The gearbox is Magna Fluxed and X-rayed to check for imperfections before shipping.

The rounded dogs take care of easy and light shifting.

The wait for the pistons ( more news on that below ) gave Phillipe the opportunity to brace the frame in the places recommended by Mike Sarghey ( link will follow on the linkspages ). Four triangles of metal in the rectangular in the bottom part of the frame, where the swingarm pivots ( only the right side is shown here ).

He also put the NOLOGY leads on the coils.

And like I mentioned above...........The pistons are on their way to Phillipe's shop!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While I was in France for a short holiday, Andy Hall ( from the Big Zed ) called TTS PERFORMANCE in England, who still had a set of 1300 cc high compression VMax pistons from JE on the shelf. So this means that I maight be able to ride the bike this summer.
