MUD PAGE

On this page I'll put the pictures of the brave little Samurai during Off-Road events

Due to my limited webspace at the provider I decided to remove all the big pictures behind the thumbnails on the "SAMURAI"pages, if you want any of the pics in a bigger size, mail me and I will send them to you !

First event I went to with the Samurai ( ánd the Chevy ) after owning it for about 2 weeks was an ANVT event in Overloon on the 31st of October 2004. Standard apart from the "COLWAY" 215x15 tires, which worked surprisingly well !! We were overall very surprised of what such a small car could achieve in the mud, me only being used to the 6.2 liter diesel V8 power of the Chevy.

Now thát's mud !                                             Dirty for the very first time in it's life !

No problems with the steep hills ( bought a "roll and pitch" meter and forgot to look ). Did I have fun ? Look at the second picture ;-) And off course I got stuck, what'd  you expect ?

And this is what it looked like on the way home, doesn't it make one proud to see it's baby get muddy for the very first time ?  ;-) Brandnew diamond plate doorpanels smudged with mud ( I put them in the car that very morning ). And how about that licenseplate and rearbumpercorner. Not used to the abuse !

We've seen a very nice rollcage for the Samurai, took a lot of pics and talked to the guy that built it. We'll be copying this one !

November 28, 2004

After working on the Samurai yesterday putting in the 4.16 T-case we were wondering wether there was any noticable difference in the mud.  I already found out yesterdayevening that the 12%  lower gearing in 2WD made a significant difference on the freeway, being able to overtake cars uphill, where the small car used to struggle to keep up with traffic, so 83% higher gearing in 4WD should be awesome..........................Well.....................

IT WAS !!!!

Put it in second gear ( no need for 1st gear ) foot off the clutch and just use the throttle to go and get everywhere you plan to go ! Very worthwhile investment and an easy swap ( about 1 hour and a half )

Tested it today at an ANVT event in Loon op Zand, behind the Efteling. As we all know the steepness of the terrain doesn't look that steep in pictures, in the second picture the "roll and pitch" gauge read 25 degrees ! And it's my father in law in the passengerseat ( he 4-wheels with a Nissan Navara pick-up )

Didn't get around to putting new pics on this page for a while, but went to the best Dutch OffRoad terrain yet ( April 2005 ), Veldhoven, near Eindhoven. Big terrain with lots of mud, loads of short turns and very much trees to be avoided.

New setup with engine and suspension worked very well !
